Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea – Review and Pilot Bottom-up Governance and Leadership Program Materials
Implemented by Ms Samani Pupdi
Samani’s
project aims to train PNG women in the Bottom-up Governance Leadership training
materials and seek feedback for customisation in a PNG context. Depending on
the success of this project, the program may be replicated as a formal training
module for potential woman leaders in PNG.
Objectives
for this project include:
- Increasing women's political representation
- Increasing women's knowledge of governenance and leadership in PNG and familiarity with issues among women
- Increasing bottom-up governance and initiatives by women in their local respects
Samani has
undertaken this project with the hope of paving the way for on-going training for women and in the long
run see an increased number of women on
the floor of parliament.
So far, Samani has held a training session on the BGLP
materials for 16 women in Port Moresby. Samani received assistance from fellow
BGLP participants Kori Toua and Ruby Kenny. Samani is seeking feedback for
customisation of BGLP materials.
